OY! Dishes are the best..i have a mixing bowl set fetish..If I had the space I'd have TONS of them 🙂

Sara – you should check out "Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone" by Deborah Madison..it'a a great go to reference for vegetable dishes….the sections are based on each vegetable.

Rob – luv luv luv me some Ina Garten..have you made her mac-n-cheese? YUMMY!

Church cookbooks! I remember submitting my best original recipe to my church in Waco way back when. I actually had to come up with a name for it (Bananaberry Bliss, scheduled for inclusion in the TCF cookbook). I doubt I still have that little book, but it had a neat recipe for crockpot chicken enchiladas.

My favorite cookbook is a local one from where I grew up in Odessa. It was the Junior League's "Blue Denim Cookbook." There's a great potato salad recipe that uses a pound of bacon including the drippings.

Now that my mom is getting more comfortable using the computer, I really need to get her the software so she can key in all her recipes.

KED – We do love the Ina. Ina and Martha are my number one girls.

And there will be more to come on Mac & Cheese I promise you.

I have made Ina's but I have another fav.

You'll have to wait and see what it is though. 🙂

OH! I loved this show! OK, I love all of them, but this one really tripped my zizzwheel!

KED — my husband has a mixing bowl fetish, too! Small world!!! He collects the gigantic American art pottery bowls. We have a slew of bowls so big, they're totally impractical. But they're pretty!

Tommy — Junior League cookbooks are the *best*, aren't they?

Sara and Rob — I'm absolutely devoted, as always!

I love the Church cookbooks! My family made a cookbook and my aunt submitted Missy’s Mashed Potatoes – my recipe – Potato Buds prepared according to directions on box. Nuke Heinz Fat-Free Beef Gravy. Ta-Da! This was many years ago, and thankfully, I have progressed. How much do I love How Much Do We Love!

Any luck finding the Snicker Salad recipe? Anxiously awaiting that one….

  7. Kristina Says:

WAIT! Is this it? How yummy is this???? I'm sure the nutritional value is fantastic…I mean, you're getting all of your fruit servings in…right? That's justification.

    SNICKERS® SALAD

    3 red apples
    3 green apples
6 frozen SNICKERS® bars (regular size)
    12 oz. Cool Whip

Dice apples. Smash frozen candy bars (one at a time, take out of freezer as needed) with wooden mallet. Mix all together with Cool Whip.

  8. Robbie Says:

    OMG – you win.

You've heard of Snickers Salad too!!!!

I brought it to a white trash party once – like a theme party, not just my family reunion – and I served it in a bucket that I had once been used to serve beer in.

    classy with a K

Oooh, I LOVE Snickers Salad. I've made it a number of times. Here's how I make it:

6 large Granny Smith apples (diced)
6 Snickers Bars (chopped up into small pieces)
    1-2 Cups Salted Peanuts
1 Large and 1 Medium Cool Whip

I put it all together just before I leave for the party!

I've also been known to add some M&M's at the last minute.
